Fire & Soot Problems
Some fires can leave a thick, sooty residue on surfaces in a East Erie house. The fuel source, amount of oxygen, and the heat generated from the combustion dictate the exact nature of this unwanted by-product. The soot on the ceiling is quite thick and packs a pungent odor. Our SERVPRO technicians can wipe down the film with dry chemical sponges to remove most of the blackish soot. However, a special primer can also coat this area to contain any remaining odors while offering a good surface for a finished coat. Of course, this process works for walls and trim as well. During this cleanup of smoke and soot residue, SERVPRO team members can also run an air scrubber with a HEPA filter to capture floating particles during the cleanup. We have more equipment to neutralize on a molecular level the foul smells!
